The Ultimate Bathroom Cleaning Guide: Top to Bottom

Hey everyone! I know we just covered some bathroom cleaning tips recently, but let’s be real—cleaning the bathroom is one of the most important tasks for keeping your home clean, and we can’t talk about it too much. So, here’s your comprehensive guide on how to clean your bathroom from top to bottom, using our favorite nontoxic methods to keep our home safe for our pets, kids, and ourselves.

1. Start with the Vent

Always dust off the vent in your bathroom first. Get rid of any dust and debris, then wipe it down for a fresh start.

2. Tile and Grout

Make a paste using baking soda and water, then cover the tile and grout with it. Let it sit for a bit before scrubbing it with a scrub brush to really get those surfaces clean.

3. Floor Cleaning

Do the same baking soda paste treatment on the floor. Let it sit, then wipe it down with soap and water for a sparkling finish.

4. Showerhead

To tackle buildup on your showerhead, you can use products like Bar Keeper's Friend. But if you want to stick with nontoxic cleaning like we do, fill a giant Ziploc bag with vinegar, wrap it around your showerhead, and let it sit for about 30 minutes. This will loosen up the gunk, making it easy to scrub off with a toothbrush.

5. Bathtub

For your bathtub, combine laundry detergent and water, then scrub with a microfiber towel. This combo works wonders!

6. Mirror

Spray a vinegar and water solution on your mirror and wipe it down with newspaper, or you can use a microfiber cloth. This will leave it streak-free and shiny.

7. Countertops and Vanity

Wipe down your countertops with vinegar, a natural cleaner, or just a mix of water and dish soap. It’s effective and safe!

8. Toilet

Flush your toilet first, then coat the bowl with either toilet cleaner or dish soap. Let it sit for a bit before scrubbing with a scrub brush. After scrubbing, flush again and rinse your scrub brush. You can also let the scrub brush hang between the toilet seat and the bowl to dry out.

9. Sink

Use that vinegar spray again as a disinfectant for your sink and scrub it away. Easy peasy!

10. Shower Curtain

We like to replace our plastic shower liner fairly frequently, but you can also toss your shower curtain in the washing machine. Just let it dry while hanging on the hooks so it stays straight and doesn’t shrink in the dryer.

11. Shower Door

For your shower door, use the vinegar and water mixture once more, then wipe it down with a microfiber towel and a squeegee for a crystal-clear finish.

With these tips, you’re all set to tackle your bathroom cleaning routine! Remember, vinegar, baking soda, and dish soap go a long way when it comes to comprehensively cleaning your bathroom without harmful chemicals. Happy cleaning, and let’s keep those bathrooms sparkling!

Happy Cleaning!
