Best Bathroom Cleaning Tips for a Sparkling Space
It's been a few days since we talked all things cleaning, so let's dive right into the dirty work! We all know the bathroom is a high-traffic area in our homes, and keeping it clean can make a huge impact on your day-to-day life. The bathroom and kitchen are those two main areas that need the most attention and have the biggest effect on the overall feeling of cleanliness. For me, one of our two bathrooms serves as our main public bathroom for guests, so I totally understand the importance of maintaining a tidy space. A good cleaning routine not only helps us feel comfortable when friends pop over but also keeps the bathroom looking decent and inviting. Here are some of our top tips for keeping your bathroom fresh and sparkling!
1. Routine Is Key
To prevent buildup, keep a scrub brush in your shower. After each shower, take a minute to wipe down the walls. This simple step can save you from tackling super stuck-on grime later on.
2. Avoid Buying in Bulk
It might be tempting to stock up on cleaning products at Costco, but buying in bulk can take up too much space. Then you have really old and huge bottles of product hanging around forever.
3. Clear Off Counters Every Night
This is one tip I feel very strongly about. Before bed, take a moment to clear off your bathroom counters. Starting the day with a clean slate feels so much better! The same idea applies to making your bed each day or clearing off the kitchen table before dinner. Creating these little habits can go a long, long way when it comes to creating a living space that supports your mental health and happiness and reduces stress.
4. Use Vinegar and Baking Soda
When it comes to cleaning, vinegar and baking soda and Dawn soap are your best pals. They’re natural, effective, and safe for most surfaces. Use them for everything from freshening up the toilet to tackling tough stains.
5. Wash Product Bottles
Don’t forget to wash the product bottles that accumulate soap buildup. Give them a quick rinse while you’re in the shower or even washing your hands to keep them looking nice.
6. Create a Cleaning Solution
Mix up a simple cleaning solution with vinegar, Dawn dish soap, and water. It’s perfect for wiping down surfaces and cutting through grease and grime. Non-toxic too!
7. Don’t Forget Behind the Toilet
Another one of our favorite and MUST DO cleaning recommendations. Make sure to vacuum behind the toilet and wipe down countertops regularly. It’s one of those spots that can easily be overlooked but really makes a difference.
8. Keep Cleaning Supplies Handy
Store your cleaning products in the bathroom so you don’t have to run back and forth from the kitchen. Nothing makes you less likely to clean your bathroom than having to lug cleaning supplies up the stairs or intentionally bring supplies in from the kitchen. Have it handy and that'll make all the difference.
9. Make Cleaning Part of Your Weekly Routine
Incorporate these cleaning to-dos into your weekly routine and you'll stay ahead of the mess. Consistency is key, and it’ll save you time and effort in the long run. Because maintenance cleaning is a lot faster than deep cleaning!
My very last tip is to hire help when you need it! Keeping a house clean is so much work. Most families are spending 20 hours a week cleaning or doing housework. It's basically a second job on top of your day job and/or caring for the kids. Bringing in a team like ours can help you balance the load. That's our mission after all: lightening your load.
Ultimately, with these tips, keeping your bathroom clean and inviting doesn’t have to be a hassle. A little effort goes a long way, and it’ll make a big difference in how your space feels—especially when guests come over!
